Water can change into three different forms: liquid, solid and gas.
Liquid water (what we drink!) We also wash with this and swim in it. It's wet and flows easily. It's the form of water that is most familiar; we use it every day.
Solid water (ice) Ice is frozen water. When water gets really cold (like 0° Celsius, 32° Fahrenheit), it turns into ice. Fun fact: Ice floats in water because it's lighter than liquid.
Water as a gas Vapor is water in gas form. It is always in the air around us, but we cannot see it. When you boil water, it turns into a vapor. Some of it cools down and becomes steam, which looks like a tiny cloud. Steam forms at 100°C or 212°F at sea level.
