Support water infrastructure investment as Drinking Water Week ends

Drinking Water Week is almost over! As it comes to an end, we are encouraging people to support investment in the repair and replacement of local water infrastructure.

Our water infrastructure is so important to our daily lives. Really think about it - our public health, economic vitality, fire protection and quality of life fully rely on it.

Unfortunately, much of our water infrastructure needs to be repaired and replaced because of the length of time water pipes have been buried underground; some have been buried for 75 to 100 years!

According to an AWWA report, fixing this infrastructure will cost at least $1 trillion over the next 25 years. That cost is more than what many water utilities can pay, so that means they must work with customers, government officials and other stakeholders to invest in these water systems. It’s an investment well worth it though - our daily lives depend on it.
