The Safe Drinking Water Act, the law that ensures that when we turn on any faucet clean and safe water comes out, is turning 40 years old on Dec. 16. Under the SDWA, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sets the standards and regulations for our country’s drinking water quality.
In celebration of the Safe Drinking Water Act’s 40th anniversary, in Washington, D.C. today EPA Administrator, Gina McCarthy, delivered a keynote address focusing on the Act and safe water. In that address she said, “Clean water impacts all aspects of our lives.”
