Louisville Water Company in Kentucky is celebrating the 21st anniversary of its trademarked tap water, also known as Louisville pure tap®.
Twenty-one years ago (or in 1997!), Louisville accomplished a feat no other water utility had done before - it trademarked its tap water.
To celebrate this anniversary, Louisville Water is in the midst of a 21-week long celebration, which includes facility tours and appearances at community events. A contest to remake "You Can't Top the Tap", a 1997 ode to Louisville's tap water, is going on right now too.
"For a city renowned for its award-winning beverages in both bourbon and drinking water, it's only fitting to celebrate pure tap's 21st birthday," said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer in a press release. "It's a great way to recognize Louisville's pioneering past, as well as its innovative present, that has given us remarkable water that continues to be such an important resource."
Louisville's tap water even earned the top honor at AWWA's "Best of the Best Tap Water Taste Test" in 2008.
Happy 21st, Louisville pure tap!
