Calculating your water footprint

posted on

How much water do you think you use in a day? 50 gallons? 75 gallons? 100 gallons? Most of us use more water each day than we think! In fact, according to Peter Hanlon of the Grace Communications Foundation and as published on Yale Climate Connections' website, most of us are using more like 2,000 gallons of water a day when taking into account the water needed to make food, fuel and products.

To help understand how much water we are really using, Peter Hanlon created an online calculator that determines that. The purpose is to help all of us really understand where there is room to save water.

To get tips on how to save water, review our Water Conservation webpage.
