As was mentioned in the September issue of Journal AWWA, Boxed Water Is Better LLC sells containers specifically for “boxed” water. As its website states, the company is “part sustainable water company, part art project, part philanthropic project”. It claims that the boxes used for water are recyclable and more sustainable than regular plastic bottled water containers. And the trees used to make the boxes come from certified, well-managed forests. Also, 10% of the company’s profit goes to world water relief foundations and another 10% goes to reforestation foundations.

What is most interesting about this concept is that Boxed Water Is Better LLC ships its boxes flat right to the filler to be filled up with local tap water. We’ll drink to that, because only tap water delivers public health protection, fire protection, support for the economy and the overall quality of life we enjoy.
