December 16 marks the 42nd anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act. What is the Safe Drinking Water Act?

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's website, "The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) is the federal law that protects public drinking water supplies throughout the nation." Under this law, EPA has a major responsibility in setting the standards for drinking water quality and safety.
