Huge lump of fat removed from London sewer

posted on

London, England just removed a massive clog made up of fat and wet wipes from its sewer. This massive lump of fat, the size of a bus, weighing 15 tons and appropriately named “fatberg”, was discovered after area residents complained of not being able to flush their toilets.

In light of a recent blog entry about Guam’s FOG ad, we had to mention this as an example of what actually happens when fats, oils and grease, as well as wet wipes, are dumped down the drains and toilets – “fatberg” happens! So be careful when disposing of such materials to ensure protection of our precious water systems.
