At the beginning of the year we wrote about a small town in Massachusetts putting a ban on disposable plastic water bottles. In that article we briefly mentioned that San Francisco was also considering doing the same thing at that time. Now the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the city’s Board of Supervisors approved a measure this week that would forbid the sale of bottled water at events held in the city.
This city ordinance, approved unanimously, could start Oct. 1 for indoor events and in 2016 for outdoor events. So what is the next step for the sale of bottled water to actually be banned in San Francisco? The measure would need to be approved by the board once more and then it’s off to the mayor for his review.
