As reported today in NBC News, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (which covers Los Angeles to San Diego) is offering to buy water from farmers in the Sacramento Valley for $700 per acre-foot. In comparison, the district bought water for $244 to $300 per acre-foot in 2010, another drought year. This obviously reflects the tough spot California is in because of drought.

Bob Muir, Metropolitan Water District’s spokesman was quoted in the article as saying, “Believe me, every drop of water counts in this year or any drought year.”
