Matt Damon, yes that Matt Damon, has been involved in a non-profit organization called Water.org since 2009. He formed the organization with an engineer and water specialist, Gary White, to tackle the lack of clean water and safe sanitation in some parts of the world. Their work was recently featured in an interview with Katie Couric for Yahoo News.

Their work focuses on an idea called WaterCredit, which provides a $150-$200 loan for a water connection and a toilet to ones in need. They estimate they’ve helped over two million people with their assistance.
