World Toilet Day

posted on

World Toilet Day is on Nov. 19. This day is an important one - a day to bring awareness to the people around the world who do not have access to a toilet.

It has been determined that “of the world’s seven billion people, 2.4 billion people do not have improved sanitation. 1 billion people still defecate in the open. Poor sanitation increases the risk of disease and malnutrition, especially for women and children.”

If you are interested in supporting this cause financially, consider donating to AWWA’s sister organization, Water For People. Their goal is to help people who don’t have access to clean sanitation.
