World Toilet Day

posted on

World Toilet Day is Nov. 19. This day, organized by UN Water, is a day drawing attention to the global sanitation crisis. There is a staggering amount of people around the world who don't have access to a toilet or may not have an effective way to get rid of the waste. In fact, according to the World Health Organization and UNICEF, 60% of the world's population is affected by this - that's 4.5 billion people!

This year's theme is "Wastewater", focusing on the need to get rid of waste properly to prevent contamination and the spread of disease. Check out this video to understand the four-part "journey" that waste should take to make this possible - containment, transport, treatment, disposal or reuse.
