Infrastructure Week is coming to a close, and this year's focus is "Time To Build".
We rely on our water infrastructure a lot, even if we don't realize it. During last week's Drinking Water Week we highlighted the importance of our water infrastructure and the need to support the investment of repairing and replacing it. Because according to an AWWA report, it will cost at least $1 trillion over the next 25 years to fix.
Replacing current water infrastructure and providing for new infrastructure to support increasing populations and new treatment technologies for increased water quality need to be done across North America.
However, the cost to fix local water infrastructure is much more than what many water utilities can pay, so a commitment is needed by not just water utilities but also customers, government officials and policymakers to fix this buried problem.
